EUROPEAN PROJECT ERASMUS+ YOUTH EXCHANGE, IN DOBRIACH, AUSTRIA

APV MEETING IN VIENNA, 8-10 JULY 2022

Level up 4 Youth From the 8th to the 10th of July the Advanced Preliminary Visit of the Youth Exchange Level Up with Youth took place in Vienna. In total eight people from five out of seven organisations have met to prepare and plan the Youth Exchange together.

it’s going to be a super cool Erasmus+ Youth Exchange (KA 1.1) with 7 different organisations with each 5 participants and 1-2 teamers, happening in the south of Austria. The program has been established together with an Austria youth focus group to reflect and meet the needs of young people today

It is aiming to create space and opportunities for young people, offering tools for active citizen engagement, improve their self-esteem and acquire knowledge and know-how regarding important topics for them.

The campsite The Kinderfreunde/Falken-camp is situated in the south of Austria in the federal state Carinthia, next to the Millstätter-lake. During the summer time we are hosting (international) summer camps from Kinderfreunde and Falcon groups all over the country. We are creating our small world within our stay at the camp. This is also why it is the perfect place for a Youth Exchange.

Kick off meeting of this project took place in Stockholm from 4 to 6 April.

The specific objectives addressed by the project are – to promote digital entrepreneurship competences and social engagement of young people through attractive non-formal education tools (in podcast format) and experiential and experiential and peer learning opportunities (international training and local innovator hubs)

– to foster quality youth work by providing open educational material for youth workers to support young people in their development and to facilitate implementation of youth-led projects

 – to strengthen capacities of youth work organizations in the fields of social entrepreneurship and digital media, and the inclusion of youth with fewer opportunities by sharing best practices

– to raise awareness among local and European stakeholders on the values of inclusion and diversity, and the potentials of youth participation for social innovation

 – to promote digital entrepreneurship competences and social engagement, ideas for innovative career paths and non-formal education opportunities among local stakeholders in the EU countries through a cross-sectoral approach (youth & education fields, private sector and public institutions)

During the meeting, the consortium analyzed the project, set the goals in time and discussed major issues related to the implementation of it. Finally, we scheduled the next online meeting to launch the first missiles of the implementation.

Achaia Adult Education Institute participated in the Erasmus+ Training course in Klaffer Austria, How to….Quality Management In Youth Exchanges”.

Kostas Daoultzis: I participated in the Training course in Klaffer, Austria: “How to….Quality Management In Youth Exchanges”. The participants coming from four different countries gained experience and the necessary knowledge on how effectively to manage Youth Exchange projects, how to design future projects like this themselves and this was achieved through non-formal learning, team building games, role-playing, workshops and creative work. We also went hiking to a nearby mountain and had the chance to get in touch with nature. It was a really nice experience and we will have to thank the Organizers and the trainers (Stefanie Poemmer and Wolgang Rohm) who did really a great job!

Dionysia Pelekouda Oikonomou

I was part of a great one week experience in Klaffer, Austria during the  training course “Quality Management in Youth Exchanges”.

We discussed a lot about how to build a youth exchange. We learned the basics about the structure and the organization you need to have. We mentioned the aims, the vision, and the schedule and step by step, by the end of the week, we managed to create a project on our own.

Besides that, we had the opportunity to improve our social competences, interaction with others, team work, leadership skills as well as practice the English language.

Overall, in my opinion the project had been proven very useful in different ways and the hosting organization did their best to give us a beautiful week.

Theodoros Kouvelas

My participation in the program was an unexpectedly powerful experience.

The trainers with their knowledge covered many topics related to youth exchanges and how they will be done safely and with quality.

As participants we transferred elements of our culture and through the activities we saw how close the different cultures are.

The trust of the peoples in a united Europe, and beyond, is the path to a better tomorrow for the next generation.

I believe that the program has achieved its goal of equipping us with the appropriate tools to design and implement programs that will promote trust and cooperation, with safety and quality.

Phaedra Foteinopoulou: I had a great experience during the Training Course in Klaffer, Austria. From the first to the last day everything was very organized. Our instructors were well trained in the subject and passed on their knowledge to us in many different ways. I gained many new experiences and it will be unforgettable.

Aγάπη Φωτεινοπούλου:Η συμμετοχή μου στο training course “Quality Management in Youth Exchanges”, το οποίο πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Κλάφερ της Αυστρίας , ήταν μια εξαιρετική εμπειρία.

Agapi Stiliani Foteinopoulou:

My participation in the training course “Quality Management in Youth Exchanges”, which took place in Klaffer, Austria, was a great experience. More specifically, its organizers were experienced, informed and conveyed the meaning of the program to us in alternative ways. Ι gained a lot of skills, competences and knowledge how to organize a successful Youth Exchange. There was a team atmosphere and we were willing to discuss every question they asked us. I’m really glad I participated in this program.

”I regard the theater as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.” Oscar Wilde

What could theatre offer to all of us?

The theater consists a cradle of culture but also a way of escape in a world full of fantasies and dreams. A world that aims at the presentation and emergence of the everyday and the realistic, but with its main goal to create a better tomorrow.

Theater and theatrical play aims at children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. The gifts it could offer to its age group are unique and equally important. Through this program our goal is to find out exactly what an elder could gain and earn from his/her participation in a theatrical activity.

European project Erasmus+KA1, Sustainability: a balanced way of life”, in Klaffer, Austria from 16-29/08/2021.

Eleni Agrapidi: Group Leader

I had the honor to be the leader of the Greek team in the Erasmus+ program “Sustainability: a balanced way of life”, which took place in Klaffer, Austria between 16-29/8/2021.

Through many activities and discussions during the day, we had the opportunity to learn a lot of things about the climate change, the industrialized products and also how to contribute to one more sustainable way of life. In addition, we exchanged information and ideas about culture and civilization between our countries, while at the same time through the marketplace which was organized, we had the opportunity to taste local flavors from each area separately. These are 14 very beautiful days that I will always remember. A short break from the hard daily life we all experience lately, which gave us the opportunity to meet new cultures and make friends with people from all over Europe and Africa. This is an experience that I would definitely repeat and I wish each of you at some point to participate in a similar program. Finally, I would like to thank the Achaia Adult Education Institute for trusting me.

Ελένη Αγραπίδη: είχα την τιμή να είμαι αρχηγός της ελληνικής αποστολής στο πρόγραμμα Erasmus + με θέμα “Sustainability: a balanced way of life”, που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Klaffer της Αυστρίας μεταξύ 16-29 / 8/2021.

Konstantina Kakkou:

Ι participated in the Erasmus project ‘sustainability a way of life’. It was such an amazing and enriching experience. We spent two weeks in an idyllic location in Austrian nature, and we discussed about sustainability, ways to achieve that in our everyday lives, art and its different forms. We had also the opportunity to meet amazing people from other countries and learn more about their point of point of view and their culture. I will miss our every-day activities, our walks in the lake and the amazing Austrian countryside, the friendly people i met from all over the world, their cuisine and their habits, our sessions in theater team. Μy English got improved to  great extend as well. I would like to participate in an Erasmus programme again.

Συμμετείχα στο πρόγραμμα Erasmus+ «sustainability-a way of life ».

Eleni Armakola:

For the last two weeks ( 16-29/08/2021), I took part in the Erasmus project “sustainability way of life” in Austria.it was one of the most amazing and unique experiences I have ever had. The topic that we mostly discussed about was sustainability and how able is each and everyone of us to achieve a sustainable way of life by making small but crucial changes in his/her life Moreover we had the opportunity to learn about new cultures since we met amazing friends from all over the globe with their own views and aspects regarding the topic Personally I’m going to miss all this ,the amazing friends, our really good workshops that brought us together, the one and only Wolfgang and Eva and of course the walks and swimming to lake. Hope to have a similar opportunity in the future.

Eleni Armakola:

The youth center from Patras, YOUTH WAVES 4 EUROPE, implemented the European program Erasmus + KA1, Youth Exchange, (Project n. 2020-2-EL02-KA105-005962) in Pylos, Messinia, from 01-09 July 2021, with 43 new participants from 8 European countries: Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Romania, Lithuania, Germany, Spain and Turkey.
The theme of the project is “Cultural Heritage for young people and the aim of the project is to raise awareness of young people about the protection of cultural heritage, to realize the mistakes that have been made about cultural heritage, to give young people opportunities to learn about cultural heritage of universal values.

Cultural Heritage is a broad concept, involving customs, practices, places, objects, artistic expressions and values, passed down from one generation to the next. Cultural Heritage produces realistic representations of value systems, beliefs, traditions and lifestyles. Cultural Heritage contains traces of antiquity in the recent past. Today, we find that this heritage is manifested not only through tangible forms (objects, buildings or landscapes) but also via intangible forms (voices, values, traditions, oral history). In general, this is perceived through local cuisine, clothing, forms of shelter, traditional skills and technologies, religious ceremonies, performing arts, storytelling. Young people participating in this project, through the understanding of the intangible cultural heritage, formed a better image of their cultural identity. By implementing all forms of cultural heritage, young people can express their talents, develop their critical spirit, cultivate imagination, creativity, and broaden their spiritual horizons.

This program gave our 43 young people the opportunity to get to know the cultural heritage of the area, in the palace of Nestor, the Castle of Methoni, the castle of Pylos, the so-called Niokastro, to get acquainted with the epic Homer`s poem, Odyssey, to discuss the effects of climate change on Europe ‘s cultural monuments, to adopt a cultural monument from their own country, after first presenting information about it, to exchange ideas, views and thoughts on these monuments and suggest ways to preserve them or restore them.

A ceremonial visit was made to the Mayor of Pylos-Nestoros, Mr. Panagiotis Karvelas, who warmly welcomed us at the City Hall and there was also a round table discussion at the City Hall of Pylos about the cultural monuments of the area and ways to preserve them.

Youth immersed themselves into an impressive digital exhibition/3D video about the Batlle of Navarino, at the Tsiklitira Museum, in view of the celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the Greek Revolution (1821-2021). Our young people were informed about the history of the place and the importance of the Battle of Navarino in 1827, which was a milestone for the independence of Greece.Every afternoon, all our young people participated according to their interests in Art workshops: Theater, Music and dance, T-shirt painting, and IT-Video.

On the last night of the Exchange, on July 8, the program was disseminated, and in the central square of the City Hall of Pylos all our young participants, from 8 European countries, presented the results of the art workshops in an impressive event. The theater group presented some rhapsodies from Homer Odyssey, our dance group presented Greek traditional dances, the painting group painted and handed over the T-Shirts, which were given to them free of charge by the program coordinator, with the Erasmus logo and the brand of the program, and our Video team presented the excellent video created with the work of the program throughout the week. It is noteworthy to say that the theater group presented Homer Odyssey, in Greek, with young Greeks, Lithuanians, Spaniards, Cypriots and Turks participating, all of whom recited in Greek.

We emphasize that the Erasmus + KA1 program was implemented, for the first time in the city of Pylos, and the residents showed great interest to be informed about it, as it is a first class opportunity to continue these Youth Exchange programs in this area of Messinia, to facilitate exchanges of views and ideas and acquaintance with cultures, morals and customs and create friendships and acquaintances between young people as well as cooperation between the Organizations involved.

Zisis-Stylianos Tramparis (leader):  Pylos, Messinia, a picturesque seaside village that I had the chance to experience with beautiful people from all across Europe, while the history of both the village and its surrounding area played an important role in our understanding of the value of culture and cultural heritage in every step of our lives. Every night we had the chance to taste a glimpse of the cultural richness of every participating country through the intercultural nights that we organized, which consisted from local delicacies to live shows of traditional songs. Though our mornings were full of rich experiences as well, through both sessions we researched and constructed presentations about cultural heritage, and through art workshops we putted culture into action contributing to it in our best way possible. Those 8 days truly were for the most of us a breath of fresh air from the pandemic crisis we are experiencing the last year and their value to our lives is truly immeasurable. An unrepeatable experience that I will definitely try to repeat, and with all of my heart I wish for all of you to find a chance to experience something similar in your lives. A big thanks to all the participants from this project and to Youth Waves 4 EU, the NGO behind its organization.

OMIROS VASDARIS: The project that participated in Pylos during the period of June was an amazing experience that any young person should participate at least once in their life. After a difficult period of confinement that we all went through, it was definitely a breath of Freedom. We came in contact with young people from different parts of Europe. We talked to each other and exchanged views. We visited places and monuments of historical importance, which seeing them alongside people from different cultures and stories, made this event even more interesting. Every one through this experience expands their horizons and becomes a more open-minded person without blinders for other people; the different ones. Creates interpersonal relationships and experiences that will be written in their mind forever.

Konstantina Kakkou: It was an unforgettable experience that broadened our horizons. Through experiential activities, visits to archeological sites, museums, culture nights we explored our own cultural heritage and came in contact with the culture of other countries in the  idyllic location of Pylos.  Thanks to the program we learned the customs, the dances and the cuisine of other cultures and we taught them our turn our own habits. Despite the difficult conditions due to the pandemic, the program was carried out properly and without any surprises as all security measures were taken in order to prevent the transmission of the virus.

In conclusion, it is of great importance that we recognized our similarities and our differences as young citizens of a united Europe and that we  formed bonds of friendship and brotherhood that we will remember for a lifetime.

NATASA KAGGELH:Μy experience in the project in Pylos was interesting. During the project I learned a lot of things about the history of the area and the visit of Nestor’s palace. A really good opportunity for me was the visits in the museums and the castles of Pilos and Methoni.

We had a lot of different activities about cultural heritage and we had time with other participants to share ideas and talk a lot for their cultures. Also, I had a really good time during the workshops and I found the time to express myself through the art workshop. The end of the project was very interesting with a theatrical play of Odyssey and dance workshop with Greek dances.

George Kaoukis: In Pylos, I had a very nice time. I met people from different European countries. We collaborated with these people and got to know them better through the program. Thanks to them, I learned different facts about the culture of each country. I believe that in this program the vision that the first creators of Erasmus programs had, was achieved. I am glad that I had the opportunity to participate once again in such a program and I hope to have other similar opportunities in the future.

Kostantinos Kaoukis: I had a great time in Pylos. I met people from different countries with whom we talked and collaborated. Through the various activities we did, I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge on the subject of the program and learn more about the culture of each country. I am glad that I participated in such a program and I hope to have other similar opportunities in the future.
