This EnHanCe senior volunteering project is a new form of Grundtvig partnership between two Greek and Finnish Organizations, which enriches their work through exchange of good practice, creates sustainable European collaboration between them and emphases the contribution of senior citizens to our society. The project addresses active citizenship – active ageing, social cohesion giving impetus to new inter – generational and intercultural experiences.
The project aims to offer a new form of mobility to 12 senior Greek – Finnish volunteers working in non –profit activities, sharing knowledge and experience for 3 weeks abroad, using the English language.
Its objectives:
- To enable senior citizens to volunteer in Greece and Finland in non –profit activities: culture, art (painting, jewellery), Greek language courses, first aid- Red Cross Aid and environmental awareness.
- To create lasting cooperation between the cooperating Organization around cultural Heritage thanks to the volunteers’ exchange.
- To enable the local communities involved in the volunteers’ exchange.
Duration: 01/08/2011 – 31/07/2013
Expected outcomes:
- Increased of personal, linguistic, social, intercultural skills and volunteers’ competences
- Acquisition, developments of tasks, obtained by the volunteers, contributing to the community as active citizens.
- Increased European Dimension for the cooperating Organizations.
