4th VETIVER project meeting in Madrid, Spain: VET Itineraries with a Variety of open Educational Resources enhanced by a multilingual repository.

An innovative new Erasmus+ KA2 project has already started from 2016 and it will last two years (2016-2018) with the title VETIVER, VET Itineraries with a Variety of open Educational Resources enhanced by a multilingual repository. Τhe partners of the project are: Coordinator: SZÁMALK-Szalézi Szakközépiskola from Hungary, UK , Torridge Training Consultants Ltd, Greece, Achaia Adult Education Institute (Achaiko Instituto Ekpedefsis Enilikon), in Patras, Turkey, Afyonkarahisar Mesleki ve Teknik and Spain Fundación Siglo22. Now we run the 2nd year of its implementation(2017-2018)
The Vetiver project has a main objective in the creation of an innovative and efficient learning experience for VET students using open educational resources (OERs) available usually through Internet and classified using a VET specific taxonomy. So we will spread the knowledge of the repository among VET schools in the 5 countries of the project. But now, we also want to investigate about how to include a similar repository, but in Moodle.
Many VET schools use Moodle and they do not want to have a different platform as a repository, but at the same time, it is difficult to create repository functionalities in Moodle. This is for 2 reasons: to access resources in Moodle you have to be a student in the course (or leave the course open), but then it is hard to search for a concrete re-source. And searching is the key function of a repository, otherwise it will become a useless box of big amounts of resources. So to have a useful repository for including resources but specially for searching, as the one of Revetax project http://revetax.eu/repository, requires some investigation on how to implement a taxonomy to classify resources in Moodle and also, to give the possibility when you include the resource to be freely accessible or just as it is now and be able to access them when you are assigned to the course.

A repository can be a really good tool to have resources for inclusive education if you consider that in the taxonomy. So teachers in the project will be able on one hand to use the Revetax repository, being able to populate the repository with their own Internet resources, but at the same time, those interested in having a Moodle repository with similar functionalities will be able to influence its development.
The project will not only be useful for students, but also for teachers to find resources about active methodologies, like Project or Service Based Learning (PBL) and Gardnerd’s Multiple Intelligences Theory. The project deals with sustainable Open educational Resources, most of them available in Internet, but selected by VET teachers, who “curate” those resources by including them in the repository. Re-sources will deal with both Transversal and Concrete VET areas of curricula, and this will to allow teachers to be more efficient and assure students learning by getting access to resources classified using a VET taxonomy.

The project will promote the use and disseminate an existing repository, product of the previous project and in addition to that, its aim is to provide an additional application area bringing together the resources repository with a Moodle based LMS. Now we will make it multilingual with more possibilities together with greater resource repositories, to improve user experience and usability within an eLearning and e-Portfolio environment.

The main target group will be students between 14 and 18 years in 3 strands:
• Students and young people in vocational training will be the priority,
• 14-16 pre NEET (Not in Education, Employment and Training),
• 16 yrs+ in further education.
. and also students in adult education

A secondary but very important target group is the teachers/mentors of these students, as we will be working with them in the use of active methodologies, specially Service Based Learning, which is a special type of Project based Learning, but together with Multiple Intelligences and how to evaluate using e-Portfolio and rubrics. All this is very important for teachers to be able to use the OER available in an efficient and innovative way .
The fourth project meeting from 01-02/02/2018 was held in Madrid, Spain, with representatives from all the countries involved (UK, Turkey, Hungary, Greece and Spain) attending the meeting
Partners debated over the 2 days meeting and discussed about the progress of the project until now. The repository of education recourses was presented in the meeting and the Handbook as well, and it was decided to be created an application in the mobile phone, for access to the project.

There was also presentation of the partners’ OER (Open Educational Recourses) created by all partners in every subject they are committed and in all the partners’ project languages. Questionnaires were also formed for both teachers’ piloting and students’ piloting process, which has already started in the aforementioned partner countries. It is avery interesting and innovating project indeed, as many teachers have told.
